The Art of Giving Back

The art of giving back
Christmas and end-of-the-year is upon us and with it comes the challenge of finding and exchanging gifts. And what better way to end the year than to give back! As Maya Angelou says, “Charity means ‘I have more than I need, and you seem to have less than you need. Please accept some of my overflow.’”By giving back, not only does the receiver gain something, but also you, as the giver receive something in return – the feeling of having made a difference. How can you give back?others

  1. Find what you are passionate about – find a project or a cause that inspires you and moves you to take steps to make a difference
  2. Start small – as they say Rome wasn’t built in a day. World issues can be overwhelming but if you break them down, you can find something small enough in which you can either invest your time, effort or money
  3. Try something new – if you don’t know what cause you want to adopt, try different things. Till you don’t try, you will not know what your calling is
  4. Believe and stay persistent – it is hard in the beginning to see your efforts making no difference. Don’t worry. Believe in the cause, believe that every small effort you do will ultimately have a ripple effect. Keep at it
  5. Enjoy – giving back should bring you happiness. It should not become a source of stress. Enjoy the work that you are putting in and know that even if you make a difference in one person’s life, it is enough

“Give others all that is alive in us—our interest, understanding, our knowledge, our humour, everything in us that’s good. In doing so, we enhance the sense of aliveness in others while enhancing our own. When we give, we get a “heightened vitality” of what it means to be human.” Erich Fromm

Now let’s hear from a few Securenians on the Art of Giving Back:

Debosmitha Ghoshal
If ever I have to learn to give without asking anything in return it would be from MOTHER NATURE.The warmth of the sun, the serenity of the moon and the patience of earth fills our lives with beauty and calmness. It is just not about the Art of Giving. It is about being unconditional. Let us give unconditionally!

Shrikant Kumbhar
By giving, you bring a smile on someone’s face and making someone smile is the best talent one can have.
